Evaluating Transport Logistics Ecologically
Objectives:
- Identify and calculate greenhouse gas emissions caused by transports involving all carrier types (road, rail, air, sea, inland navigation).
- Pinpoint reduction potentials.

CO2 emissions per type of transport
Starting Point:
- Shipping data for the period under review.
- Transport and routing information.
Method:
Calculate emissions using software tools (Logistics Designer, XCargo) combined with transport simulation. The degree of detail provided by your input information will determine the calculation logic applied.
Procedure in brief:
- Model re-enactment of current transports in a logistics network, with particular attention given to the type of carrier utilized.
- Calculate transport distances (based on distance tables).
- Evaluate transports based on carrier-specific emission factors.
- Identify greenhouse gas emissions at the carrier, transport, and shipping level.
- Simulate alternative routing and carrier variations.
