Expanding and Optimizing Logistics Capacities at Geberit AG

Geberit AG, one of the leading manufacturers of bath and sanitary equipment raises sales from year to year and enjoys growing international markets. Constant growth creates a challenge for the enterprise's existing distribution logistics. To secure continuous first-rate delivery service for its customers, Geberit decided to take measures to expand and optimize its distribution network.

LOCOM Consulting supported Geberit throughout the planning phase:

  • Analysis of the current state of the distribution network
  • Develop scenarios for proposals regarding new network design
  • Define a plan for redesigning the distribution network

Facts for well-founded decisions

In order to develop an appropriate strategy for Geberit, LOCOM’s planning tool DIALOC modelled and analyzed the current situation in detail.

DIALOC's model simulations proved Pfullendorf the best location for expanding logistics capacities. Effects of scale in warehouse processes also supported centralizing the distribution function in Pfullendorf.

Investing in Logistics Expansion

Geberit AG is now expanding its logistics center in Pfullendorf, where operations began in 1998. The project with a projected volume of 25 million euros will be completed in mid-2009. In order to continue quick and reliable delivery Geberit will maintain a network of satellite warehouses throughout Europe. This network can be adjusted periodically to allow for flexible reactions to market demands and developments.

With its new distribution logistics Geberit is prepared for continued growth in sales and positive business development.
