fdu Vertriebs- & Planungsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG has re-introduced freight invoicing into its in-house business activities and chosen CARGO as the software solution for this purpose.
fdu Vertriebs- & Planungsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG, with headquarters in Georgsmarienhütte, is one of Germany's largest manufacturers of component ceilings and walls and pre-fabricated cement construction parts.
At 16 locations in Germany, fdu produces and sells premium cement components for business buildings and home construction.
From the plant directly to the construction site
The customer is supplied with construction components by delivery directly to the construction site. The weight and dimensions of the components normally make shipments full loads. To reduce warehouse costs the components are produced and delivered just in time.
Depending on the delivery region, various shippers are involved in moving fdu components. Freight costs are invoiced by voucher procedure, which previously was handled for fdu by an outside service agency.
Optimizing the Process without Outsourcing
fdu decided to return voucher processing to in-house business administration. To prevent this step from becoming a cost trap, it must be carefully planned and executed, and the appropriate IT environment must be created. fdu selected LOCOM Software GmbH's product CARGO as the software solution for this purpose.
CARGO automates the steps of the process and enables quick handling of the voucher procedure. fdu's SAP system provides delivery documents that are then transferred by one click to CARGO and compared to the negotiated conditions of the pertinent shipper. This generates a bookable data record that is sent directly back to the SAP system. CARGO thus effortlessly fits into the existing infrastructure at fdu and enables minimized and cost-efficient invoicing. CARGO can also analyze the data and use it to provide information that supports future strategic decisions.
Stay Flexible
CARGO's functions have been specifically adapted to the needs of fdu and yet remain flexible enough to accommodate future developments. As long as fdu invoices exclusively by voucher procedure, CARGO will fulfill this purpose. If the future should bring enhanced auditing requirements, these can be integrated into the existing system.
